Everywhere! They look under water, and in the ground. Anyone can simply find a fossil by looking at a rock. There could be imprints of shells, or tiny fishbones, or something on a beach stone. Something like when you stick your hand into wet cement for a couple seconds, only it takes longer with formed rock.

Scientists find many ways to learn and study the Earth. The most common way to study the Earth is by calculation. Calculation can help describe, and give a proper way to examine the Earth. THe other way used to study the Earth's history is by big fossils, and many sculptures that can give hints and ideas that scientists study. Cameras and most technology aren't very often used to study the Earth by finding the history, or landscapes, or animals. Technology is used for mostly calculations of the Earth. Scientists use pen and paper to observe and take notes of all the artifacts, and sculptures they might only see once in their lives. Therefore, scientists have to draw pictures on paper, and explain the picture so they can always look back to that paper to study it, rather than to go half way across the world to see the sculpture again. Scientists use many ways, and varied ideas to study the Earth, and its history.
