∙ 14y agowell, the answer that I have in personal experience is that when you go to the dentist, for a " cleaning " by a dental assistant, after he/she is done they go and get the dentist, and he pokes around in your mouth, checking the assistants work, and checking for " " loose fillings " in my personal experience, the fillings I had had been in there just fine for 12 years and about 30 minutes after an " oral exam " appointment the teeth he had been poking at started to ache and 3 days later are aching more and more, I personally think that in checking them he damaged them

Dental hygiene is a bad career for anyone right now. Their are way too many dental hygiene programs graduating way too many dental hygienists and the market is flooded. Most of the work available is part-time with no benefits. This might be acceptable to a married woman with children who does not want to work outside the home much. But as a man, if you plan on supporting a wife and kids this is NOT the job to do that. Plus, you probably will face some sexism in this field. Dentists like hiring the pretty FEMALE dental hygienists fresh out of school. By the way, I am that pretty female dental hygienist (three years) fresh out of school. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS FIELD!!
