One of the greatest helps an aspie adult can receive is introduction to other aspies, either in person or through online communities. Through mutual sharing and support, aspies are often able to bring understanding and insights to this difficult situation.

An aspie is capable of learning to behave more like a neurotypical person. However, this education is rather like teaching a left handed person to write with their right hand. It will never feel as natural for them as it does for people born right handed. In the same sense an aspie can learn acceptable rules of social behavior, but may never quite feel intuitive or natural in applying them.

-You cannot outgrow Asperger's Syndrome. However, treatment can help improve social skills and coordination. Treatment is best started as early as possible. Even with treatment, some people with Asperger's Syndrome may still have trouble socializing, but most are able to work and live independently as adults. -At least one study has shown that 20% or more of children with AS grow out of it and do not show evidence of it as adults. I have added a link to a section of an article in Wikipedia, which references such a study and contains other information.

-I have "outgrown" aspergers, or atleast symptoms have dissapeared. The only social problems I have are a result of previous social individuality, plus all the other teenagers I know seem like idiots. So to answer your question, there are cases you can recover from aspergers, but it really depends on the will of the person.

No. People with autism and Asperger's Syndrome have brains that function a bit differently than the brains of neurotypicals. It is a lifelong condition. However, some treatments can help some people with some of the symptoms. Also, people can learn coping mechanisms to work around some of their difficulties. So, although a person cannot recover from it, the difficulties associated with the condition can be minimized in some situations.
