Yes, the whole line is expensive. Go to NAPA autoparts and they have rubber fuel line that is high pressure rated. Cut the rotten metal pipe off and bring it with you to get the right size. When you put the new line on, lubricate it a little and slide it on at least 1 inch per side and put 2 clamps per side. That fuel line runs 6$ a foot by the way.
The gas filter is in the fuel line next to the gas tank on the drivers side of the car.

you need to drop the gas tank down and remove fuel pump from tank.
If your engine has a carburetor the filter is in the supply line into the carburetor. If your engine is fuel injected the filter is right next to the gas tank in the fuel line.

The brake line will have a retaining nut on each end of the line. Loosen the retaining nuts. Reverse the process to install the new brake line.
