On my 96 Camry, there is a "kill" switch on the front left of the floorboard on the driver's side. If you switch it, it will deactivate the alarm. I don't know if that helps with this model though. Ignition key should be "ON" when you use the "kill" switch to de-activate .
Put your key in "on" position, and install the new battery.
You do not have to reset the keyless remote after battery replacement.
No.
Try to start the engine a few times. on then off on then off it should turn off after a couple tries happened to me a several times when my remote was on the fritz.
If you have disconnected the battery upon reconnecting it anti-theft system was activated. Your remote or key should deactivate it when you attempt to start the car. Also check your owner's manual for more details.
You open the remote with a coin or small screwdriver, and pop the battery out. My 4Runner uses a CR2016 battery, which you can pick up at Walmart or any hardware store. Put the battery in with the + sign facing south, and you should be all set.
Try popping the remote apart and putting a new battery in it.
Hold the lock and unlock buttons simultaneously for 7 to 10 seconds. The locking mechanism on your car should activate and your remote should be synchronized. Just did this on my 2003 Tahoe. You definitely do have to resynchronize our keyless entry remote after changing the battery. The car manual clearly states that you need to (although it doesn't say how).
yu gotta program it
the factory alarm is turned on and off by the drivers door-key-switch....or with the factory remote if you have one...unlocking the door with the key turns off the alarm...:)
if you have taken the battery out of your remote you will have to take it to the dealer it has no memory after you take the battery out. dealer told me if i would have changed it out in about 5 seconds it might have saved its memory. i found out the hard way
Sounds like a dead car battery. Do any lights or electrical accessories work?
