If the pH goes unchecked wrinkles will appear in the liner. Make sure alkalinity level is maintained and such problems will not occur. Once there is a good size wrinkle you own it until you replace the liner. It is imperative that you keep the water chemically balanced. This is simple to do...go to a poll store and buy test strips...$300.00 in chemicals is waaaayyy cheaper than a new install!!!

How do you get wrinkles out of the liner on the bottom of a pool with water in it?

There aren't too many tricks to use once there is water in the pool. Typically it's near impossible. improved answer if this is an above ground pool answer If you have had the liner in there for a short period of time and the creases or wrinkles are on the floor, I would drain the water down to about 1 to two inches of water in the liner. Get inside the pool with bear feet and grab the liner with your feet pulling the wrinkles to the edge of the pool wall. The weight of the water that is left in the pool will help hold the wrinkles out while you pull them to the wall. Once you have gotten all or as many of them out as you can then you can refill your liner. If the liner has been in there for a long time it will be impossible to remove all the wrinkles due to the liner being shaped that way for an extended period of time. If they are on the wall you would have to drain the water and remove the top rails. Move around the outside of the pool pulling down on the liner on the outer top edge of the pool. This will help to bring the liner higher up the wall and help pull the wrinkles out. You then would do the same thing listed above for the floor. If you have a beaded liner and the wrinkles are on the wall this means your cove at the inside bottom of the wall, between the wall and liner, may be to high. To fix this you would have to drain the water all the way down, pull the liner back from the wall, exposing the sand underneath the liner, and "cut" the cove down some or remove some of the cove, to reduce the height. Return the liner to the wall and add about 2 inches of water across the entire bottom of the floor. Then you can start pulling the liner with your feet like earlier, removing the wrinkles. NOTE you still might not be able to eliminate all the wrinkles.

How do you get wrinkles out of the pool liner?

wrinkles in the liner are impossible to remove after the pool is filled. It's a loosing battle. Only two options. #1- if the wrinkles are small just enjoy the pool. Next time you fill the pool have the kids work the wrinkles out as you fill it. #2- If the wrinkles are "over lapping" drain the pool and start over. The water bill is much cheaper than a new liner. Good Luck hope this will help. R.B.

What causes pool liner wrinkles?

wrinkles in a pool liner are caused by 1. failure to smooth the ground under the liner 2. failure to diffuse the water after placing the liner 3. not checking the liner while filling the first 8 - 10 inches of water

Will wrinkles in a liner in the bottom of the pool affect how long it will last?

A few small wrinkles in a liner is very common. I install liners for a living, and it's pretty hard to get a liner in without a wrinkle or two. It's not going to effect how long the liner will last. If it is a big wrinkle (1" tall or more), you need to be careful that you don't tear it with the vacuum head.

How can you remove creases in your pool liner?

Above ground pool? First, it's almost impossible with the water in it. The water is too heavy. So, drain water down to appropriate level. Remove the top rails and liner keepers one or two at a time. Pull up on the liner and get as many creases out as possible. Replace rails and keepers ase you go. note: You won't get all the wrinkles out and the longer they've been there, the harder it will be. On the floor of the pool, if you have more then 7-8 inches of water in it, you won't be able to pull the wrinkles out. Water is too heavy. If you have had the liner in there for a short period of time and the creases or wrinkles are on the floor, I would drain the water down to about 1 to two inches of water in the liner. Is it necessary to replace a pool liner when you move the pool?

It's not necessary, but it is recommended. The liner stretches into place once it is filled with water, making it hard to get a used liner to work without a bunch of wrinkles.

Footprints on bottom of inground pool liner?

I had an inground pool installed. We just turned on the lights at night and noticed footprints on the bottom. Can this be fixed? Call the pool company back. The bottom is normally sand mixed with cement. The liner will probably have to be removed and bottom smoothed. They should have checked that before installing the liner. Those printswi catch sediment and debris for the life of the liner.

Can you install a pool liner over an old one?

How do you fix your in-ground liner pool when the stuff under the liner is broken up and falling apart?

We are in the process of doing jsut that. We are replacing the liner and bottom of pool. We have the vermiculite bottom. We filled in the deep end of pool, due to water shortages, and are now trying to decide which liner to buy. I don't know anything about the sand bottoms but our bottom fell apart when we took the liner out. Hope this helps

How can you keep the vacuum from sticking to the bottom of the pool and making wrinkles in the liner?

Sounds like you have too much suction in the skimmer. If you have 2 skimmers and have plugged one to vacuum, try taking it out. If you do not have 2 skimmers and have a main drain, try diverting some more of the suction to the main drain. I am not sure why you would be getting wrinkles unless your liner is loose or you have water behind the liner causing this. Hope this helps

Removing wrinkles from above ground expandable pool liner with hopper deep end?

Most wrinkles can be avoided by waiting for a warm sunny day to install and fill an expandable bottom pool. Lay the liner out in the bottom of the pool stretching it across the deep end. Align all the seams, Then place sand bags all around the bottom edges, inside the pool stretching the bottom tight and working out the wrinkles. Keeping the liner stretched tight with sand bags, hang the liner sides over the sides of the pool walls. Add a small amount of water to create a puddle in the deep end, Then at the hot-est part of the day when the water you added earlier has warmed, and the liner is at its hot-est and soft-est add water very very slowly. Pausing periodically to allow the added water to warm. The weight of the warm water will cause the warm liner to sag more and more (to stretch evenly) into the deep end, This is not a time to rush, If you fill too fast the water will pull the sides of the liner into the center, sand bags and all, instead of stretching the bottom. Leaving it badly wrinkled! If this happens pump off the water and start stretching over again. When the deep section is all full and the main pool area has an inch or too of water covering it remove the sand bags and finish filling the pool. In cold climate this process could take a few days.

Is there any products to use to prolong the life of my pool liner?

There are a number of products you can use to prolong the life of your pool. You could install a wall foam between your pool wall and the liner to keep a smooth surface next to your liner to help prevent punctures. You could purchase a liner pad or pool padding for the bottom of your pool. And you can invest in vinyl liner repair kits to repair the small punctures and prolong the life of your liner.

How get wrinkles out of new vinyl liner?

That's a lot easier to do BEFORE you put the water in the pool. If you've already put water in the pool, it will be difficult to do without tearing the liner. Water is a little over 8 pounds per gallon, so it really presses down on the liner.

What do you do when above ground vinyl pool bottom is thinning out?

Should there be a gap between the liner and pool bottom and side on a new inground pool?

There may be small gaps at the corners. Once water is put in the pool, the pressure will stretch the liner to fill these gaps. Since the water fill from the bottom upwards, any air "trapped" on the bottom will be forced out the top as well when the pool is filled. The water is in the pool, liner is rounded in the corners and their is approximately 1" space between the liner and bottom/side corner of the pool bottom.

How can I tell if I have received a genuine doughboy pool liner?

I have paid for a genuine doughboy pool liner, how can I tell if that is what I received or if I was given a cheaper one for the price of a doughboy? I am having so much trouble trying to get the wrinkles out of it. It seems they are almost manufactured right into it.
