∙ 11y agoThere are many reasons for your dog to have a difficult time defecating or pooping. Maybe it is your dog's diet, poor quality of dog food, a lack of exercise, infected anal glands, etc. etc. The best thing to do is to take your dog in to be checked out by your Veterinarian to find the reason. In the mean time, make sure your dog has access to plenty of fresh water, feed a good quality brand of dry dog food and not some cheap generic dog food plus good exercise such as daily walks. But be sure to take your dog to your Veterinarian to be checked out.

∙ 14y agoJust like humans, dogs can occasionally get constipated if their diet changes or if they are mildly dehydrated. Mixing a teaspoon of vegetable or olive oil in with the dog's food should help the dog, but always be sure that the dog has an adequate supply of water to drink.
