When I broke my leg I didn't go out so much so my booze intake declined substantially.
I also did 5 minutes exercise every waking hour, raising and moving the leg etc say a couple of hundred times primarily to offset muscle deterioration.
This was so beneficial that when the plaster was taken off, other than the need to rebuild the leg muscles, I was probably fitter than at any time in my adult life.
