Asexual reproduction in plants in essence is the ability of a plant to form clones of itself or replicate copies of itself from the parent plant. Asexual reproduction may also come about when a plant is able to self-pollinate, or rather a flower can use the same pollen it produces to pollinate itself. However this may be considered a form of sexual reproduction, since it deals with the male parts (anthers containing the pollen) and the female part (ovary), with the pollen being received by the stigma and going to the ovaries to fertilize the ovules. This is the sexual reproduction part of a plant. The flower can also receive pollen from other flowers from vectors such as wind, insects or other animals that inadvertently take pollen from one flower to the other.

Sexual reproduction involves two members of one species creating a daughter cell, as in humans; asexual reproduction is when one plant or animal can create this daughter cell without the gametes of another member of the species. This is shown in strawberries, which reproduce by runners, and potatoes, which reproduce by tubers, when another potato simply begins to grow on the side of an old one (ever left a potato for too long and seen a 'growth' on its side?;) )

Hope this helps
