The foaming capacity of a soap or detergent refers to the amount of foam that can be produced by agitating soap in a container filled with an equal amount of distilled water. After being shaken well, the solution is allowed to sit still and settle. The longer it takes for the foam to dissolve, the greater is its foaming capacity.

introduction of foaming capacity of soap :- soaps samples of various brands are taken and their foaming capacity is noticed. Various soap samples are taken separately and their foaming capacity is observed. The soap with the maximum foaming capacity is thus, said to be having the best cleaning capacity. The test requires to be done with distilled water as well as with tap water. The test of soap on distilled water gives the actual strength of soaps cleaning capacity. The second test with tap water tests the effect of Ca++ and Mg++ salts on their foaming capacities.

Effect of adding of sodium carbonate on soap :- adding sodium carbonate to soap can affect the activity of the soap in different manners in presence of different types of water. For example on case of hard water it will precipitate calcium carbonate and hence, activity of soap will improve. But in presence of fresh water it will reduce the inter-facial tension but bubbles of soap will not be formed. In presence of saline water addition of sodium carbonate may increase pH resulting in scale formation of calcium carbonate. However, in general the foaming capacity of detergents is not affected to a very large extent by addition of sodium carbonate.

What is the effect on foaming capacity of soap by adding sodium carbonate?

Sodium carbonate has a good effect on foaming action of soap. The tap water with which soap is agitated to form soap contains ca and magnesium salts dissolved in it.Sodium Carbonate will make it precipitate. As a result Sodium Carbonate will increase the rate of dissapearance of foam. GOKUL MURALI

Study the effect of addition of sodium carbonate on the foaming capicity of a soap?

The effect of sodium carbonate on soap can differ depending on the type of water used. Hard water could cause the soap to bubble more, while fresh water could cause the soap to not bubble at all.

sodium oxide, carbon dioxide and water 2nd answer: there will be no effect on sodium carbonate if it is heated as sodium carbonate will not be decompose upon heating.

How does bases effect calcium carbonate?

Because calcium carbonate is a base, depending on the pH of the base, it will either increase or decrease the pH of the calcium carbonate very slightly. It will probably have little to no noticeable effects.
