Yes, you can add printers to your Netbook. As long as you Netbook have USB ( nearly all the Netbooks have it. One can connect their Netbooks to the any printers that enables USB drives.
As I am a student, and I am using Intel Atom embedded Netbook and requires to take many printouts as the requirement of my subjects. More importantly, Intel Atom Netbooks are lightweight and easy to take anywhere. Intel Netbooks is much lesser price as compare with Laptop and with a great battery life (approx. to 10- 12 Hrs.).

Please be aware that many printer manufacturers are behind on releasing Windows 8 drivers so if it isn't a new printer you may be a while getting it to work.
By the way, my cannon Printer works fine with my acer Lap Top

You should really look in the manual of the printer. There's really no way to tell you without knowing what you have for a netbook, what kind of network, if any, you have, etc. If you have a wireless netbook connected to the internet through a router then just be sure the netbook has the updated HP drivers installed and the printer is set up for DHCP and it should grab the IP. Make sure the printer has the exact same password and encryption, WPA2 if possible, as the netbook. The same information you used to connect the netbook to your network. Or if it has a USB port just connect it directly to the netbook and set it up that way.
