Computer Administrator will only show on the welcome screen when there are no other users defined. Once you create a user, Administrator will become hidden. Only way to retrieve this ( without a registry hack ) is to disable your welcome screen and fast user switching from the User Accounts option in the Control Panel. This will affect you in two major ways. . .

1) You will need to type out all of your Usernames when you log on. ( Including Administrator )

2) You will no longer be able to switch between users while staying logged on. You will need to log off completely.

How does Unix protect passwords?

Passwords are protected in 2 essential ways: first, the file containing the password is only viewable by the administrator (root) account. Secondly, the password itself is hashed so that it appears to be encrypted, and is a one-way hash. This means there is no way to retrieve a hashed password (other than guessing). It has to be reset in that case.
