Because thawing will actually damage cell wall, juice will leak from the thawed meat cells. It is because of the fluid loss that would make the thawed meat weigh less.
it isn't frosty and it is slightly squishy...........and it isn't frozen
I think so because it has frozen water lodged into it :S Iv'e confussled myself :D :PP
tastes it man, if it tates frozen it probably is, if it is not then your good to go dude
Meats should only be frozen for up to three months. They don't necessarily go bad, but when there is a layer of frost, discolored parts, or the taste is off, the meat is freezer burnt.
Yep - rule of thumb - if it is frozen it will take longer to cook.
You can always tell by the smell.
No, frozen is frozen. But you can refreeze something that has been thawed. You can refreeze thawed meat long as there are still ice crystals on it. Once completely thawed then you need to cook it first then refreeze. This applies to solid pieces only, ground meat once more than half thawed needs to be cooked first then refrozen always.
Fish will weigh less after it is thawed because it loses some water when it is thawed.
Meat will always weigh the same whether thawed or frozen. This is will hold true unless the water from the meat will be drained during the thawing process. It will then weigh lighter than its frozen state.
Vacuum sealed hamburger meat that is frozen can last 2 to 3 months. When it is thawed, it shouldn't be kept in the refrigerator more than a couple days.
Because bacteria will grow in the meat once it is thawed and then you put it back in the freezer which just hibernates the bacteria - when you bring it out to thaw again the bacteria just multiplies and next thing you know cooking it just doesn't cut it and you could come down with some life threatening food poisoning. If you have thawed meat that you dont want to eat that day you can cook it into a meal and then re-freeze it, this is ok as long as you only reheat the meal once. You can not keep this meals leftovers for another time you will have to throw them out.
Frozen fish does not smell while still frozen. Once thawed it would depend on the type of fish and how fresh it was when it was frozen.(fresh fish does not smell fishy)
The chicken is still frozen, please thaw it before cooking so that it will cook more evenly.
If the meat stays below room temperature (for instance, if you have thawed it in the refrigerator) and it is quickly put back into the freezer, you can refreeze the meat with little effect on the texture and flavor of the meat. If the meat has been thawed for a day or more, or gets warmer than refrigerator temperature, it is best to cook it and then refreeze.
frozen meat has more bacteria as it is in the freezer with lots of other food
Pregnant women are advised to look after their health more carefully to protect the unborn child. This is about the possible risk of food poisoning. Even if you are not pregnant (or male) it's still good advice.
No more than 3 days
A frozen turkey does not weigh more than fresh. A 15-lb frozen turkey will weigh 15 lbs. when it is thawed.
