Low coolant and a clogged heater core are possibilities.
Bad or clogged heater core. Backflush it.
You may have a clogged heater core, or a leak in the system somewhere. Take your car to a mechanic who can replace the heater core or diagnose the leak.
Could have a clogged line feeding the heater core. Disconnect return hoses from the heater core and verify coolant is flowing through the core.
Your car could be low on antifreeze or your heater core could be clogged. With my car, it was Heater matrix clogged with radiator sealant. The workshop cleaned it and it's start working fine!
Could be the Climate Control Unit or Clogged heater core.
Thermostat stuck open, if older car possibly clogged heater core- when run at oper temp the hoses going into/out of heater core be sure one is very hot - start with thermostat $$$ cheap & easier than a heater core problem!
AnswerBad thermostat, clogged heater core, or a defective heater control switch. If an engine has not been running long it will not have warmed up, the warmth from a car heater usually comes from the engine.
Check for a thermostat that is stuck open. Also can be a clogged heater core, or defective heater temperture control valve.
No it will not. It will either be leaking or become clogged which will make the heater not produce any heat. it has nothing to do with fuel mileage.
Not necessarily. It depends on what you mean by a bad heater core. The core will either be leaking or stopped up. If it is leaking, then it can cause the engine to overheat and the only fix is to replace it. A clogged or plugged heater core can sometimes be fixed by flushing it. You can also temporarily bypass the heater core until you can get it fixed. Just connect the inlet & outlet heater hoses together.
the heater core, heater core hoses or heater control valve is leaking
