How can you tell if the timing belt on a 1999 Toyota RAV4 is about to break?

you cant really. often they break and theres really no indication of a problem except that it is broken. very old belts (130,000 miles perhaps) sometimes have cracks on them but to see the cracks you have to do about a third of the job of replacing it. its best just to have it replaced at the factory designated interval, (90,000 miles).

You don't. The 2007 Toyota Rav4 uses a chain and not a belt.

I know of no Toyota Rav4 that came with the 3.3 Liter engine which does have a cam belt. The 3.5 was installed in the Rav4 and it has a chain.

The Gates website ( they make timing belts etc. ) lists a timing BELT for the 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine in a 1998 Toyota RAV4

According to the Gates website the 2001 Toyota RAV4 , 2.0 liter 4 cylinder , has no listing for a timing belt so it must have a timing CHAIN

my rav4 has a timing chain and i guess it all depends upon what kind of engine installed to youb rav4

first you have to take the 487 gfd4 plug out and then replace the battery with the red cable to include the white so it works
