One sure-fire way is to open the case and look. If there is a RJ-45 socket (looks like a large phone jack) on the back that does not necessarily mean that the network is on a card, it could be integrated into the motherboard.

The network card might also be a wireless card. That being the case, you ought to see an antenna sticking out of one of the card slots.

Some older cards may have a BNC connector (looks like a cable jack) and some even older cards may have a 9-pin female socket...that's really old.
