A Great source of information on this firearm (and most other Iver Johnson Firearms) is the book by W.E. Goforth titled, "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993".
Without knowing the model and caliber, we can't tell. A serial number ALONE does not identify a gun.

We can't tell you anything about your revolver from the serial number alone. If there is no model name or number marked on it, try to locate it in Flayderman's Guide to Antique American Firearms or Gun Trader's Guide. Both of these books should be available at your local library.
On pre 1980 model Johnson / Evinrude outboards, look up the model number in the OMC model number reference guide. This guide will list model numbers manufactured since 1913.
No way to tell from a serial number only. They are not unique to only one gun, and tell us nothing about the model or condition. We can't tell you the value of a car from a license plate number.
Hercules was made by Iver Johnson from 1918-1943, Hercules name dropped in late 30's!
With Johnson outboards, we cannot tell you the age from the serial number. If you tell us the HP of the engine, and it's model number (usually on the clamp bracket), then we can tell you how old it is.
Is it possible? Yes. Will we tell you how? Absolutely not.
Evinrude and Johnson outboards decipher the year model of the engine, by use of the engine model number.
Measure the diameter of the opening, (bore), at the muzzle of the barrel.
The year is determind by the model number on Johsons yet noone can tell me how yet!
Before 1934, gun companies did not have to put serial numbers on handguns. From 1934 to 1968 only handguns had to have serial numbers, and rifles and shotguns only had them if the manufacturer wanted to put them on voluntarily. You might have an older Iver Johnson that was made in the early 1900s to the early 1930s that was made without any serial number. I'd take the grips off and look all over for any markings. If you want to identify this gun, register for some gun collector's website and read about old Iver Johnsons and post good clear pictures of yours, with close-ups of any writing or marks. Chances are some Iver Johnson collector will be able to tell you what you have and when it was made.
The year model for a Johnson outboard, is determined by use of the engine model number. The model number is recorded on a metal tag, for early models, riveted to the side of the stern, or clamp bracket. On late model engines, the number is displayed on a decal, affixed to the swivel bracket. PLEASE SHOW ME AN EXAMPLE
With just the serial number, nothing.
.32 cal. black powder
More than likely, you have a Champion Model of an Iver Johnson shotgun. The Champion was made in a few different grades from about 1909-1973- quite a run. Standard model in good condition about $150, others higher. These were durable, well made guns- just not really high priced.
Check serial number on the left side of the motor where it bolts to the transom. Mine has a metal tag with model and serial number.
It depends on the condition too, you should go to a reputable dealer and get it appraised.
You can't tell the model number by this serial number.
model number is always smaller than serial
www.e-gunparts.com depending on what you need. I can tell you they don't have a barrel!
There is no model number. The model name is Cobra. Are you talking about the serial number?
