Hey, It is hard to tell a adult guinea pigs age, if you bort it from a pet store as a baby it would of been between 2-3 months old, if you take it to a vet they could possabley tell u the age by looking at its teeth,
There are a few short/rough hair types of guinea pig.
Smooth hair- the hair is smooth all over.
Crested/Crowned- basically smooth hair with a crown of hair on head.
Abysinian- has rosettes of hair all over body, purebred is 8.
Teddy- Puffy all over.
And now the long hairs...
peruvian- look a bit like wigs. have flowing hair over face.
Sheltie- smooth, straight hair with face not covered.
And there is some more, but i cant remember them at the minute.
If you take it to the vet they might know the general age.
its quite hard to tell but they could increase in size and could get ill more often if there older
Well, the way to tell how old your guinea pig is to look for b
general size and how much it has bonded to owner/other guniea pigs it shares cage with
if you pick up your guinea pig and look at its bum if it only has like a y shape it is a female if its a male it will have a y shape with like a dot:)
short hair is american
long hair is sheltie or peruvian
curly long hair is texal
spiky hair is abyssal and there are more but i cant be bothered
Ok, a crested guinea pig and, I'm guessing you are referring to an abyssian guinea pig (not a cat) CAN breed. They are NOT two different species of animals. They are different BREEDS. Both are guinea pigs, so they can breed. Think of a lab (dog) and a dachshund (dog)........they, too, are different BREEDS, but the same SPECIES (dog)......so, they can also breed.
The most common breed of guinea pig is American short haired. They are easy to groom and handle.
it will have the babies 4 days after u realised it
you can either breed two mop guinea pigs (or get guinea pigs that have mop in their blood) or buy one
You should sell your guinea pig depending on alot of different things.... Whether it is a registered guinea pig, what type of guinea pig it is such as the more expensive breeds like peruvian, calic, crown etc. Or if your guinea pig is more of the uasull type such as the American long hair or the American short hair. Some times the German short hairs are uasull types in some states. If your guinea pig is a registered breed then you cann sell him/her for more than 40$ depending on the breed, If your guinea pig is a more expensive breed like the ones i have showed you above you can sell them with out being registered for between 30 to 40$ , If your guinea pig is one of the most common breeds you can sell them for 20 to 30$ , But always make sure you are putting your guinea pig in a good home :)
You can't breed it if there is not another animal for it to breed with.
Depends on the size of the guinea pig and it's breed.
No you cannot.
it depends on its breed.
Yes, I would say that eight weeks is a bit too young to start breeding your guinea pig. I would suggest waiting until your guinea pig is about four months old to start the breeding process. Otherwise, if you start breeding your guinea pig too early, there are multiple complications that could arrise that might affect the health of the mother of fetus(s).
Obviously you need another to breed so put up posters asking for what you need. Maybe put an add in your local paper.
I would suggest 5 months to a year so they have matured and are ready.
You can't ... you must have a boy and a girl. So ... buy another, borrow one from a friend, rent one. Your choice.
well you can force them or sometimes it just happens.i have one guinea pig named Picaso like Pablo Picaso and he is still a baby so he doesnt know how yet.
