The method used, to see how your fuel filter is performing, is the same one, used to test how well, the oil filter is performing. Have a new filter on hand, because the test destroys it. After removing the filter, carefully cut or slice it in half. Usually the contents are reddish brown in color, that being the rust in the fuel system,(normal) that the filter traps. If the filter is not giving you any life, and you find this, each time you test the filter, chances are, it's gas tank time.

It's on the passager side of the motor above the starter and just left of the oil filter as your facing it. I'm pretty sure that it's under pressure so you should read a repair manual and follow instruction's for servicing for your safety!

It's under the intake manifold on the engine. You have to reach around and under the manifold to get it out, it's easier on trucks that don't have air condition installed. Use a 12 mm socket wrench for removal.

It is located in the fuel tank on the fuel pump pick up From what ive heard though, it is supposed to be a "lifetime" filter, not 100% if this is true though, ive never heard of a lifetime fuel filter...

It is either in the fuel line or it is on the passenger side of the carburetor .

If any of it gets through the pick-up filter (aka the sock) then gets through the fuel pump (assuming the vehicle is fuel injected) it will get caught in the fuel filter before it reaches the fuel injectors. If enough of it gets into the fuel filter it will clog up the filter and restrict the fuel flow.

Yes. It is at the beginning of the fuel pick-up and is also known as a sock or strainer.
