The long and short of it is that there is no safe time when to have unprotected sex. Any time you have sex you must use a condom otherwise you may become pregnant. Having intercourse during your period does have a very very low risk associated with it of becomming pregnant but having sex during this time has a high risk of contracting a yeast infection for yourself and your partner. So basically the best thing to do is a use a condom every time you have intercourse.

period could be left over period blood or a infection If I was you go and get it checked out by a doctor that's if it wasn't near a period it could mean anything better be safe than sorry.
