How do the people in Bangladesh cope wih floods?

shelters get built, aid is sent from charitys and houses are then put on stilts too stop future damage coming with floods since bageladesh has a flood on average every 4 years. :o

Bangladesh builds levees, and they build flood shelters, to protect the citizens of Bangladesh from flooding. Although that does not do any good, because they are just making people lose their homes.

Dams-Block the rivers

Flood warning systems- megaphone connected to a bike, risen by a man who shouts warnings, usually one per village

Flood shelters- buildings on stilts that store numerous people per room

They are so used to floods that they simply put out sandbags!

They also put houses on stilts so they're above the flood water, The Bangladeshi government plant trees to prevent errosion and they reinforce the flood barriers. They make roofs and walls stronger by using palm leafs and bamboo sticks (thought these do not often make much of a difference!).

Bangladesh is mainly very low-lying country, and coastal too. Not much they can do about preventing the water from rising.

What they can do though is to limit the consequences of flooding, by installing warning systems and elevated shelters where people can wait out the rising waters w/o drowning.
