Dorothy kills the Wicked Witch of the West at the castle by throwing a large amount of water onto the witch, where she then melted on the spot. Guess witched aren't as invincible as we thought they were.

∙ 14y agoIn the original 1900 book edition of The Wizard of Oz, the Wicked Witch of the West tries to kill Dorothy Gale, her pet dog Toto, and their three friends the Cowardly Lion, the Scarecrow, and the Tin Woodman by sending her slaves to kill them all. First, there are wolves, which are followed by crows, bees, enslaved Winkies of the Yellow Winkieland of the West, and Winged Monkeys. Back in her Yellow Castle, the Witch mistreats Dorothy, and trips her. But before Dorothy can be starved or mistreated to death, she throws a fatal bucket of water on the Witch. In the beloved 1939 film version, the Witch tries to kill the five friends when they stop in the deathly poppy field. But Glinda the Good Witch causes it to snow, and thereby keeps the five friends awake and alive. Inside her Castle, the Witch says that Dorothy has only one hour to live. The means of death aren't mentioned. But the Witch causes a fire when she throws the hourglass on the floor. The five friends manage to escape, only to be cornered by the Witch and her torch-lighted broom. The Scarecrow briefly catches fire. But Dorothy throws a fatal bucket of water on the Witch before any further murderous intents can be carried out.

∙ 13y agoThrowing water so that she melts to death is the way in which Dorothy Gale gets rids of the Wicked Witch of the West in "The Wizard of Oz" and in "Wicked."
Specifically, Dorothy has the magic slippers of the Wicked Witch of the East. The Wicked Witch of the West wants those slippers. She manages to take one. But Dorothy throws water in self-defense to protect herself and her dog Toto. She has no idea that water is deadly to the Witch.

∙ 14y agoDorothy Gale accidentally killed the Wicked Witch of the East. The Witch was in the wrong place at the wrong time. She was exactly on the spot where Dorothy's farmhouse landed in the beautiful, enchanted, magical lands of Oz. The house settling into the Blue Country of the Munchkins of the East flattened the Witch and knocked the life right out of her.
