Voldemort shot the killing curse at Harry and Harry used a spell to backfire it at him. The killing curse backfired and killed Voldemort, so technically it was suicide.

Why doesn't harry potter have parents?
He did but when he was a baby, Voldemort killed his mum and dad whilst they were trying to protect Harry. After that he tried to kill Harry but it backfired on himself and thats why Harry has the thunderbolt scar on his head which causes him great pain when Voldermort is around or gaining power.
