He technically wasn't personally elected. It's complicated.
Germany's system works somewhat similar to Britain's- the people basically vote for political parties, and then the party (or coalition of parties) with the most seats in the Reichstag (Parliament) chooses the Chancellor and his Cabinet. If there's no majority party or coalition, then the President (who functions a lot like the Queen of England, except he's elected) can choose someone to be Chancellor.
In January 1933, Hitler's Nazi Party allied with two other right-wing parties. Together, they convinced the President to appoint Hitler to be Chancellor, which he did. They then decided to have an election in March, hoping that their coalition could win a majority of the seats and they could pass laws and get things done.
About a week before the election, the Reichstag building was set on fire, and a Communist was arrested for it. Hitler's coalition convinced the President that Communists were about to start a rebellion, so the President issued a special law called the Reichstag Fire Decree- this law made it easy for Hitler to arrest people to stop the Communist rebellion. However, Hitler didn't just arrest Communists, he also arrested Socialists (the Social Democratic Party was Germany's largest political party at the time, and Hitler's foremost opponent) and other leftists. Many more Socialists and leftists went into hiding to avoid being arrested.
With most leftist politicians arrested, exiled or otherwise hiding, Hitler's right-wing coalition was able to win over 60% of the seats in the Reichstag election, officially solidifying their hold on power. They wasted no time passing laws to eliminate democracy in Germany and ushered in the dark period of the Nazi "Third Reich".
Germany was coming off of a war and needed a strong leader in the country that would get things done. This is how most countries fall to a Dictatorship.
He offered hope, he offered a way out of the situation that Germany was in.
He promoted himself as the man to represent the workers.
he hada goddvoice and he wasvery manipulative
He was a brilliant man and knew how to speak to a crowd. He promised and fixed the German economy and improved German life overall.
Hitler was elected president of the NSGWP on July 29, 1921. He was elected amidst a possible party split, and upon resignation demanded to be made party president if he were to ever return. His popularity and polished oratory skills made him the ideal leader of the socialist movement in Germany following WWI.
A bit of Both, Hitler had high power in the Reichstag but only because he bullied people ito getting what he wanted. However, it was the President of Germany at the time who promoted Hitler to chancellor.
The takeover of Germany by Hitler was one of a kind because it was done legally by Von Hindenburg's appointment of Hitler to Chancellor. Later when President Von Hindenburg died in 1934, his office of President, meaning "head of State" was an election issue. Hitler, in 1934 ran for President and was elected. He then combined the office of Chancellor & President into one office. Chancellor meant head of the government, President meant Head of State. As President, Von Hindenburg could have removed Hitler from office. Failing to see that Hitler took over Germany legally creates false history.

Hitler was both elected and was a dictator. In the late 1920s and early 1930s Hitler created the nazi party. He promised things such as jobs for everyone and eventually gained enough support to be elected.
A president who was elected in 1952, and defeated Germany and Hitler.
He was elected for chancellor and when the president died Hitler siezed the opertunity and merged Chancellor and president into one.
He was elected as President of the Republic of Germany.
Hitler was elected Chancellor of Germany in 1932, the same year Franklin Roosevelt was elected President of the United States.

Chancellor was the top man in German Politics ( still is, they also have a president but he is a lower-level official, no US equivalent. Sorry to relate , Adolf Hitler was legitimately elected by the voting populace of Germany to the post of Chancellor- which once in, he expanded to Fuhrer ( Leader) and ReichsKanzler- Imperial or Realm chancellor- de facto- Dictator. Adolf was elected by the people- He did not March into Berlin with a Tank convoy! This is one of the tragic failures of ( People"s Government). In a different vein the Italian Empire was ditched- not by Mussolini ( he was already dead) the Communists, or the Neo-Nazis- but by our old friend (?) the Ballot Box- in l946.
Hitler was never actually elected by the German people to become Fuhrer he took the control in 1933. He ran for President in 1932 but lost to the current President, and was appointed Chancellor of Germany. When the Nazi's took over Germany in 1933 he was appointed by the party to become Fuhrer.

He was never "President", although Germany has had a President since the end of World War I, and still has one. Hitler's first government position was when he was appointed Chancellor in January 1933; prior to then, he was just the leader of the Nazi Party, and was never elected or appointed to any office. After President Hindenburg died in August 1934, no new President was elected. Instead, Hitler just took the powers of the presidency along with the chancellorship, and gave himself the new title of "Führer" (German for "leader"). He held the title of Führer until his death in 1945.
