When she was 17, her sister Alline took her in Club Manhattan where the Kings of the Rhythm were invited . The singer of the band was Ike Turner. At the age of 18, she was having a baby with Ike. Two years later, she became the main vocalist of the Kings of Rhythm, recording the song "A Fool in Love" together with Ike. "A Fool in Love" became a hit. She and Ike moved to California and Anna changed her name into Tina Turner. It was Ike's idea because he loved savage African women.
