The Holy Spirit IS Jesus and God. ( the trinity ) After Jesus was resurrected, God sent the Holy Spirit down to Earth so that we may have a relationship with him again.

Another Answer:

The power that sustains all things emanates from the current God Family - Father and Son - and can come into all who follow Jesus - this is their Holy Spirit:

Romans 8:9New King James Version (NKJV)

9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.

No, He came to reveal the Father who up to then, no one knew:

Matthew 11:27New King James Version (NKJV)

27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.

Jesus was born by the power of God's Holy Spirit and therefore was Holy. As our perfect example, He was baptized and the Holy Spirit in the form of a dove, descended upon Him. The Holy Spirit of God, aka the Spirit of Christ, is the awesome power that sustains all things. It usually is associated with wind, fire, oil, water but never a person of the God Family - 3rd or otherwise.

When does the holy spirit enter into a person?

The answer to this question is unknown since it is not written specifically in the Bible. The Bible mentions the Holy Spirit but not specifically when we receive it. In Psalm David asks God not to take the Holy Spirit away from him, which means David had The Holy Spirit and was afraid God would take it away. In the New Testament Jesus says to his disciples that He is leaving but will send a 'Helper', this is considered to be the Holy Spirit. Pentecost is about the Disciples receiving The Holy Spirit. So, although the Bible talks about The Holy Spirit, it does not tell us when we receive or why.

When did Jesus disciples receive the holy spirit?

In John 20:17, on Resurrection morning, Jesus had Mary go and tell the disciples He was returning to the Father. That night, He appeared to them in the Upper Room and invested them with the Holy Spirit. (John 20:22) During the day He had been to Heaven and returned. I believe He was sprinkling His blood on the altar in Heaven in His final act of atonement as our High Priest (Hebr. 9:11-12) . During the next 40 days He taught them about God's Kingdom. Then, as He was leaving Earth, He told them to wait in Jerusalem until the Holy Spirit came upon them in power. (Acts 1:8) This was a special manifestation of the Holy Spirit that resulted in the birth of the Church, but the Holy Spirit had dwelt within them since the night of the Resurrection.

What are importance of holy spirit to Christian?

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God that calls us through the Gospel in order that we might believe that Jesus Christ is Lord. The Holy Spirit keeps those who believe in Him, united with Jesus Christ in the one true faith. God sent His Holy Spirit to make Himself known to the whole world - that is, everyone! The Spirit calls people to tell them that we are God's children and He helps us to believe that God's Word is true.

How are catholics able to know the holy spirit?

I don't believe that they understand it, I used to be a Catholic and I had a lot of questions they could not . The Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit bares witness to us that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ live, they have bodys of flesh and bones and that they are two separate and distinct personages. If you pray about that the Holy Ghost will tell you that this is true. Catholics are able to know the Holy Spirit through Pentecost.
