How did Reg Barclay know neelix on Star Trek voyager?
Barclay was part of the Pathfinder project in Starfleet that was able to contact Voyager in the Delta Quadrant. In an earlier episode, Voyager's EMH (Emergency Medical Hologram) was uploaded into an abandoned alien subspace network which connected briefly to the experimental USS Prometheus in Federation space. Voyager's EMH and Prometheus' EMH overcame a Romulan hijacking and Voyager's EMH notified Starfleet about Voyager's continuing existence in the Delta quadrant.

Star Trek Voyager is one of several spinoff shows from the original Star Trek series. Voyager itself is an Intrepid class starship. The gist of the story is that a Star Fleet crew (back in the Alpha Quadrant) is in search of a Maquis rebel ship, and during the search the two ships are sucked into the Delta quadrant by some sort of Graviton wave, the impact of which causes a few of the crew to die (the Maquis ship was sucked in some weeks earlier and the Star Fleet crew had to search for them). Being 70,000 light years from Earth, it will take them 70 years travelling at High Warp to return to Earth, and the crew of either ship who were not killed in the initial incident need to band together for survival, not to mention the fact that the Maquis ship was actually used as a battering ram against an aggressive alien (Kazon) warship. Along the way, they have a variety of Trekkie type adventures. Star Trek: Voyager is a science fiction television series set in the fictional Star Trek universe. Jennifer Lien was asked to leave Star Treck: Voyager, so they could make room for Seven Of Nine. Originally, it was Harry Kim (Garreth Wang) Who was going to leave, but after he was listed in Top 50 Actors Of The World, they decided to ask Jennifer to leave so they could afford to pay, and have more… screen time for seven. In A Vision of the Future - Star Trek: Voyager , Stephen Edward Poe states that in 1997, when producers were ironing out the details of the introduction of Seven of Nine, they had already lined up Garrett Wang (Harry Kim) to take the bullet and leave in order to free up enough budget for a new main actor. Then that year, Wang was chosen by People Magazine as one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the World". Suddenly Wang was in, and Lien was out. In an article appearing in Star Trek: Communicator issue 134, Lien recalled, " I was on for a few seasons, then they asked me to leave. They decided not to renew my contract. I didn't ask why I was not being renewed, I just said 'okay' and moved on. " ( Full Answer )

The actor who played him was born in 1978. The show was never clear about the character's age, other than implying that he looked quite a bit older than he actually was due to time spent in a Borg maturation chamber. Since the maturation chambers hold Borg drones until the age of 13 (VOY: Collecti…ve), and his was stated to have released him prematurely, it seems likely that he was under 13 when he joined the crew of Voyager. In the episode, "Worst Case Scenario" they find a holodeck program about the ship being taken over by the Maqui. Other than that, the Maqui didn't do anything. Seska, (one of the Maqui members) took over the ship with the Kazon in the episode "Basics". The other Maqui had nothing to do with it.
Well there were 20 episodes per season. And the series ran for 7 years. So I would say 140 episodes.
In some episodes, the plot line is obvious. with different alien species you can usually tell just by looking at them. The bad guys: Kazon, Hirogen (in the episodes before The Killing Game Parts 1&2) Borg, Malon, ect. I'd just say watch the episode to the end! :)
