Thomas Jefferson Eppes, or "TJ" as we know him, was the great-great grandson of President Thomas Jefferson. He was a judge in Florida. A delegate to the Democratic Convention of 1860. An influential politician, employed by the railroads, and murderer of Fernando Suhrer who had attained fame as the Commander of an Ohio Regiment during the Civil War. He is, at times, referred to as a "Founding Father", but it should be noted that this reference is not in regards to being a "Founding Father" of our nation, but rather to his being a "Founding Father" of our our modern legal system in which a murderer may be found innocent "on a shadow of unreasonable doubt". His wife, the notorious Kate E. Celeste, who had the famous ship The Kate E. Celeste named after her, is said to occasionally appear as a ghost alternating between an Inn in Fernandia, Florida and the jail house at Fort Clinch in the same city. The bulk of the above information may be found by searching the web, or in its' entirety in the rare book "Thomas Jefferson Eppes, The Robin Hood of Epping Forrest" By Coxswain Bird, Random & Harpers, New York, 1887
