Idaho's nickname is The Gem State because of its abundance of Natural Resources and scenic areas that include snow-capped mountain ranges, rapids, vast lakes and steep canyons. The waters of Snake River rush through Hells Canyon, the deepest canyon in the United States. Shoshone Falls plunges down rugged cliffs from a height greater than that of Niagara falls.

When Washington state finally broke away from Oregon Territory, all they had to do was find an eastern border with Idaho. The northern border with Canada was already set at 49 degrees north. The Columbia River with separates Oregon and Washington is Washington southern border. But at city of Walla Walla, Oregon tried to take that, but Washington didn't back down because they needed that land for farming and goods.
