It really just depends on what kind of mouse your looking for and where you purchase it at. A typical, wire mouse without laser would be about $10 or less, depending on where you got it. A wire, laser mouse would be about $15 or so, still depending on where you got it from. A good wireless usb laser mouse is about $25. Needless to say, they aren't the most expensive device for a computer.

In 1979 Steve Jobs visited the Xerox company who were using a mouse on their computer system but the mouse had been invented many years before that by Douglas Engelbart. The way the Apple mouse worked/was used differed from its use on the Xerox system and so it is debatable just how much influence Xerox had on the development of the Apple systems.
