Births were recorded in the parish registers in some places, England being one, beginning during the High Middle Ages (some time after 1000 AD). In most places births were not recorded.

Medieval times were more of a dark time where they was a lot os superstition and war but in renaissance times these people started to get more interested in artwork and more technologically advanced but there was still a lot of superstition there.
Food had to be pretty fresh because there was no real way to keep it good. Salt was used as a preservative and things were smoked, but all in all food was gotten or sent for each day to be served that day. There was a great deal of spoiled food, though.

It was very simple compared to the Renaissance The paintings were flat with no perspective and were generally egg tempera on wood. There was some tapestry done and books like the Book of Kells had wonderful hand done art. Stain glass also was used a great deal in the churches to tell the stories of the bible.

A herald was originally a messenger, typically of a king or high ranking member of the nobility. As such their jobs were like those of ambassadors. There was no consistent form of money. Barter was used a great deal and each area/king made some form of coin. So, there was no name given for these things.
The titanic didn't have midwives on board, however the ship did have a hospital and an isolation ward. The doctors on board would have been trained to deal with anything such as births.
A great deal of it is still around. In the Tower of London you can see a lot of it in the museum. Some of the helms have dents and cuts in them so you can see that the man who wore may not have lived. Other museums have armor as well.
