Union General Silas Casey became famous not so much by his battles during the US Civil War, but instead through his military manuals. His massive works on infantry tactics were published in 1862 and 1863. They became the so-called Bible of military tactics in the US Civil War.
advances in weaponry and using pre-dated military batlefield tactics
Military theorist Emil Schalk was a first hand observer of the US Civil War. In his publication called the Summary of the Art of War, he stated that offensive tactics and bayonet charges were effective in winning battles. As far as favoring offensive operations, Schalk was in agreement with Henri Jomini.

the roundheads didnt have any tactics at alll
There are a number of changes in military tactics that were changed in the US Civil War. Perhaps the most dramatic was the end of cavalry charges as an offensive threat. The rifled guns on both sides for the most part left cavalries as a skirmish tool and reconnaissance weapon. This was not always the case, however, this was a radical change from earlier wars. Another tactic that fell from being the best offensive weapon was the infantry charge against defending troops. In each of the two tactics mentioned, the increased use of battlefield fortifications such as trenches and the rifled muscat played a large role in these changes.

AIM used tactics that were often confrontational and violent.
Yes, because the tactics were based in 19th Century tactics, similar to those use in the American Civil War (which were outdated even at that time), but now faced with forces fighting in entrenched positions, and with much more capable weaponry.
