Before revolutions, South America had two things people wanted: Immense mineral resources, and a climate that is great for agriculture. So Britain, Portugal, and Spain all created colonies that opressed natives and had horrible conditions like the silver colony of Potosi (Think of California towns during the 49er's gold rush). Many colonies and areas wanted independence from these nations. it didn't help that America just rebelled and many independent European generals happened to be there too like Garibaldi. So they started rebelling. How did it change it? Well, when Simon Bolivar tried making a singular South American nation, he found that everyone wanetd to be the leader, the soldiers were undertrained, un disciplined and unloyal. The people were greedy. And everyone wanted a share of resources. What rebellion acheived was semi-modernised countries with skeleton soldiers trying to subject other people, causing noone to agree wityh other areas, and made jungles perfect places for people to do tehir own seperate thing of making money and waging geurilla war. In essence, it created a bunch of dictators who make money of selling drugs and fragmented nations trying to blow the heck out of the other.

The American and French Revolution influenced Latin American independence by showing them that it is possible to gain independence. Also the American and French revolutions showed nationalism because both countries were fighting for the best of their country. So nationalism eventually influenced Latin American leaders to stand up for their country. An example of a leader is Simon bolivar who was fighting for Latin American independence against Spain and eventually got it.
