It was a war next to the colonies, started by the colonies. Colonial soldiers fought in the was alongside British regulars. And the threat of enemy natives caused Britain to put a protective detail of soldiers in the colonies to be payed for by a modification in the existing tax of sugar, which actually reduced the tax.
