The Hmong had a long previous history of serving as mercenaries for the French in Southeast Asia. They were in action with the French at Dien Bien Phu and when the US came in, it was a natural for them to seek employment with this new military force.

Look it up and you will see that the US government was shady and was involved in bringing opium to the states in their planes, and using Hmong people for militant duties with promises of bringing them back with them..Instead they got abandoned, and many were killed for siding with the Americans. Some things make me wish i wasn't born into this country.

can someone tell me where i can find the US government was shady and was involved in bringing opium to the states in their planes, and using Hmong people for militant duties with promises of bringing them back with them, instead they got abandoned, and many were killed for siding with the Americans? Please let me know at kong_k22@hotmail.com because I'm going to write an essay about Vietnam War.

Are these the Montagnards? (French for mountain people). GIs in country only met up Montagnards or North (NVA) & South Vietnamese. Hmong people are probably the ones working with CIA in Laos. If so its because the NVA were all over the place in Laos (protecting & reinforcing their HCM trail in addition to their 2 Armored Tank Regiments hidden in that country). Montagnards and Hmongs (if in South Vietnam) were involved usually if the fighting entered their territory. Translation: Wrong place at the wrong time.
