Transport to the camps was mostly by (freight) train in enclosed cattle trucks (boxcars).
The Nazis had already stripped the Jews of their rights as citizens, they made them seem like they were not human using Propaganda. Without their rights the Nazis could do anything they wanted to the Jews.
Many Jews seem to have underrated what the Nazis were capable of doing. Certainly, German Jews had had much the same upbringing as other middle-class Germans, with obedience and trust in the basic decency of 'the powers that be' stressed as core virtues.
The usual means of transport was by rail in cattle trucks (boxcars).

∙ 12y agoIt was done by a gradual process, first they had to register themselves as Jews, then they had to wear a star of David on their clothes and they were forced to live in separate areas where they were shut in an terrorized by soldiers they also had their property seized and were denied work. This process separated them from the normal community.
After this they were told that they would have to move to a separate area of the country to live - they were told to pack and then herded onto trains. The trains ended up at the concentration camps where they were systematically gassed and cremated.
They told them that they were going to resettle them elsewhere and tricked them into thinking that they were going to go to a safer place.
