As the US entered WW 2 in 1941, the nation was in recovery from the Great Depression of the 1930's The war in Europe increased demand for US products and as soon as the US entered the war, it was not only producing war products and supplies for the remaining Allied forces, it was producing them for the US war now being fought in the Pacific Ocean and soon in North Africa and Europe. Since the US was the only nation in the war whose economy was basically in tact as well as its manufacuring base, the US economy boomed supplying the war torn nations with all sorts of products from military ones to food.
