The Battle of Midway
American Naval and Air forces participated in the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway. In both of the battles, the United States and Australian forces won over Japan (defeated Japan). With these two victories over Japan, the American Navy forces began to turn the tide in the war against Japan.

Military historians consider that the tide turned against Japan with the Battle of Midway, and that the Allies had the upper hand from then on.
i think because of the tide of the war changed in the Allies' favor.
There was many major battles in the Pacific and European Theaters. The two major battles for both was the invasion of Europe was Operation Overlord (D-Day as many call it) and the Battle of Midway. Where the Americans turned the tide in both theaters in these battles.
