The Black Death affected towns and villages by killing off most of the inhabitants, in some cases, all of them. The survivors actually became better off afterward, as they could simply move into (larger) abandoned houses and farms, and take over the material goods that they would not have had access to any other way so the poor that survived became very rich with a big house and lts of land to grow food on. :D
