The first Mesopotamian empire was the Akkadian Empire. Its founder was Sargon of Akkad (2334-2279 BC). He conquered he invaded Syria and Canaan (the Levant), Elam (in southwetern Iran) and the coast of Saudi Arabia on the Persian Gulf as far as Oman.
