Well, it should be Why ARE there so few Jews in the world?
Judaism (the religion) is not widespread and is originated from the Middle East, and is practiced particularly in Israel. Judaism's background's are of "the chosen people" etc. not giving much motivation or welcoming for "gentiles" or non-Jews to the religion, whereas religions such as Buddhism and Christianity are widely accepting and welcoming of just about everyone.
Also, I assume the Holocaust played a role in downsizing the population of the Jews, but the main factor is of the nature of the religion.
There are several reasons. The three most important are:
Repeated murder and oppression. When the Romans crushed the Jewish revolts in the first and second centuries, they killed huge numbers of Jewish civilians as well as most of the Jewish armies. During the Crusades, roughly 1/4 of the Jewish population of Europe was slaughtered, as well as a good fraction of the Jews then in Palestine. During the Black Plague, Jews were repeatedly slaughtered when they were blamed for the plague. When Jews were expelled from countries, large numbers of fleeing refugees died as they searched for new homes. When Russia began intense persecution of Jews in the late 19th century, a leader estimated that 1/3 would convert to Christianity, 1/3 would die, and 1/3 would flee. The Holocaust in the 20th century was outstanding for its slaughter, but not without precedent.
And, as that Russian noble said, whenever persecution has been severe, some Jews left Judaism in order to save their lives.
It was a Roman Catholic stronghold with a number of small Calvinist enclaves and a very small Jewish population.
Israel is in Asia, it has the largest Jewish population in the world. Outside of Israel, there are very few Jews in Asia.
this is a very good question, a lot of people from the Cincinnati area have Jewish names( rose, lindner ) to name a few, but aren't actually Jewish. the Cincinnati area actually has the largest population of Jewish named none Jews in the world ,i believe.
I don't know the exact percentage but very, very few are Christian. Only Jewish Israelis, Druze, and Circassian Muslims are required to serve, and only Jewish volunteers from foreign countries are accepted. All Christians serving in the Israeli Army are Arab Israeli citizens or from the very small Messianic Jewish population.
not immediatley, but now the jewish population is rising very fast.
The country was formed on Jewish-Christian values. There weren't many Muslims in the U.S. until recently and they still are a very small percentage of the population.
It is very small, but it is one of the most densely populated countries in the world. So it has a large population for its size.

Very small population. The number of reps is based on population.
the # of individuals in a population, or population size, can affect the population's ability to servive.
If the population is very small, almost any risk can be catastrophic. Disease, flood, a fire, a famine or drought, even an accident could kill so many that the population could not recover.
