The Marshall Plan was designated to Western Europe, and the Truman Doctrine went to Turkey and Greece. Each was designed to give money to countries that were devastated in World War II, so as to prevent them from falling prey to the Soviet Union and its communist mannerisms.

The Marshall Plan initiated the reconstruction of Europe after WWII. The Truman Doctrine gives the United States the "right" to put their noses in everyone's business as the world's "Police Force" to contain communism within its borders. It's theory was the Domino Effect, which was the idea that if one country became communist, the surrounding countries would fall to communism as well. The Korean War was the first action to contain communism by the Truman Doctrine.

President Truman and George Marshall recognized that European people were starving after the end of World War Two. They put the Marshall Plan into effect to solve that problem and to discourage the Soviet Union from occupying more of Europe at the end of that War.
