The rich lived very luxurious lives, with lots of slaves working for them, the poor sought advice from some of the rich.

Slaves were usually treated roughly even like animals, if they got enough money they could buy their freedom, sometimes they stayed with their masters though.

The poor: lots of them were farmers or general labourers. Their diet wasn't particularly varied because meat and some vegetables were expensive.
