How did the war begin?

The assassination on 28 June 1914 of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, the heir to the throne of Austria-Hungary, is seen as the immediate trigger of the war, though long-term causes, such as imperialistic foreign policy, played a major role. Ferdinand's assassination at the hands of Serbian nationalist Gavrilo Princip resulted in demands against the Kingdom of Serbia.[6] Several alliances that had been formed over the past decades were invoked, so within weeks the major powers were at war; with all having colonies, the conflict soon spread around the world.

World War 2 started on September 1st, 1939. Germany invaded Poland, acusing the poles of atacking them first, which was not true. It started because Hitler beleived that 1. the world should be rid of all Jewish people. 2. He wanted World Domination, 3. Germany was in a HUGE economic crisis, and had a need for oil, food, etc... Hitler felt the only way to complete these, was to start and win a world war.

The reason why this event didn't just become news in the Baltics was because of M.A.I.N (Militarism . Alliances . Imperialism . Nationalism), these factors started to take effect in the 19th Century and led to this event in history to cause one of the most devistating wars of the 20th Century.
