Social diversity is a feature of a society which is determined by caste, class, religion, occupational pattern in a given territory. This is very different from social hierarchy where society is divided into several layers of superiority and inferiority. In case of social diversity social hierarchy may be present but at the same time society may be egalitarian i.e. hierarchy-less which is present so called in tribal society. all the determinants given are not necessarily present at the same time together.

Indians from all around the country will celebrate different festivals and eat different foods etc because of where they live and the community they come from
