This is a tricky one :). The starter is located in the middle of the V. Remove main cover, remove fuel lines, remove intakes,... You get the picture :)
in the 4.9 its on the front of motor in the center just a little to the driver side. disconnect battery negative cable. remove starter shield. remove exhaust assembly front and rear pipe. remove flexplate inspection cover. disconnect solenoid 'S' terminal nut and battery cable nut. unbolt mounting bolts.
Install..in reverse order.
This job is very difficult, and you probally should find a garage to do this for you. The starter is located inside of the motor.
In the motor.
If you do it yourself, the starter motor will cost you anywhere from $55-110. I got mine for $60 and hasnt given me a problem. If you take it to the dealer, they will charge you around $380
front of motor on the bottom a little to the driver's side. has a shield covering it.
It's attached to the top of the starter motor. It has a purple lead attached to a small bolt
If it is the Northstar engine which I believe it is, it is inside the motor under the intake manifold.
It is located on the bottom of the motor, back beside the transmission on the radiator side.
