Animals release carbon back into the cycle in two main ways. One is through exhaling and releasing carbon dioxide, and the other is by decomposing; when animals die and their bodies decompose the carbon is returned to the environment where it can be used again.

Oxygen (along with mostly inert nitrogen and everything else in the air) is inhaled into the lungs. Much of the oxygen is absorbed through the alveoli of the lungs where it then enters the bloodstream. Carbon dioxide is expelled. So the carbon animals return to the air is in the form of CO2.

Animals respire, and thus they contribute to the carbon cycle by releasing CO2. When burnt or decayed (and when they respire) the compounds release Carbon.

Summarize the carbon cycle starting and ending with carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.?

The carbon cycle is a process where carbon is removed and returned to the atmosphere. The ways of returning carbon to the atmosphere are- 1. Respiration 2. Decomposition 3. Combustion Ways of removing carbon- Photosynthesis. The CO2 in the air is taken in by green plants for photosynthesis. The green plants die eventually and is decomposed; decomposition return carbon to the atmosphere. Animals respire and return carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Decomposers respire as well. Green plants can be used to make fuels, which combust to return carbon dioxide to the air.

What process do organisms return carbon dioxide to the atmosphere?

respiration

How does human beings return carbon dioxide to the atmosphere?

inhale and exhale

Why you need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis-jokes?

The atmosphere didn't literally need the Carbon Dioxide! The main purpose of the Carbon Dioxide is for the plants! Plants needed Carbon Dioxide for their process called photosynthesis to produce their own food and in return they exchange it into Oxygen but for me personally the Carbon Dioxide in our atmosphere is also there to maintain the balance in it.

What process returns carbon to the atmosphere?

Several processes release carbon as gases (carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, methane) into the atmosphere. Three important processes are fuel combustion, respiration, and methane release. -- Combustion of carbon-based fuels (wood, alcohol, biogas, or fossil fuels) remove oxygen and combine it to form carbon dioxide and other compounds. -- Plant and animal respiration release carbon dioxide. This is the reverse operation of photosynthesis. -- Methane is released from ruminant animals, from decomposition of organisms, and from ocean-bottom clathrate deposits.

Is carbon dioxide a feature of the earth?

Carbon Dioxide can be released into the atmosphere naturally along with other gases during volcanic eruptions and through geological 'vents' in the Earth's surface. It is also given off by all animals (including humans) when they exhale. Trees and plants ABSORB carbon Dioxide and give off oxygen in return. Man produces about 3 to 6% of all carbon dioxide. Nature contributes the rest.

Why is carbon important in the carbon cycle?

They break down organic remains such as dead plants and animals into small particles. This slow decaying process is the beginning of CARBONIFICATION which turns these particles into fossil fuels. The bacteria also return carbon to the atmosphere in the form of Carbon Dioxide during RESPIRATION.

Which of the following types of organisms break down dead plant and animal matter and return carbon dioxide to the atmosphere?

decomposers

What might decrease global atmospheric carbon dioxide?

There is no known way that humans can economically remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere; all we can really do is reduce our emissions of carbon dioxide and slow down the rate at which atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are increasing. The surface waters of the ocean do absorb some carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as atmospheric carbon dioxide level increase, but there is little interchange betwen the warm upper ocean and the deep layers. However over a period of several thousand years, there is sufficient interchange to absorb large volumes of carbon dioxide, allowing the atmospheric concentration to return more or less to normal. Afforestation. Planting trees will remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

What operation is for carbon dioxide?

Carbon Dioxide is exhaled by all living animals, even humans. The build up of Carbon Dioxide is poisonous but it's needed for this operation.Plant life, like trees, grass, flowers, etc., feed off of Carbon Dioxide, and they give off Oxygen. So what animals exhale, plants feed on and give us air in return.

What two biotic processes return carbon back to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide?

bums do thats why when we fart it comes out so slow and lush

Global warming is happening because?

Earth's atmosphere has a lot of carbon dioxide. When heat from the sun penetrates the atmosphere, the carbon dioxide makes it hard to return back to space. So minimal heat gets reflected. This is what you call the greenhouse effect. The heat gets trapped inside our atmosphere. This is global warming.
