The abdominal aorta splits caudally into the external iliac arteries, and a short section of the aorta continues on and then divides to form the two internal iliac arteries and the caudal artery. There is no common iliac artery in cats as there is in humans. In cats, the caudal artery takes blood to the tail

In humans the aorta branches into the right and left common iliac arteries and continue into the external iliac arteries. The internal iliac is the first branch off of the iliac artery. In the cat the abdominal aorta branches into the right and left external iliac arteries and also has the third branch that forms the median sacral artery, off of the median sacral artery you can find the branches of the left and right interal iliac arteries.

In a human, the difference is that the aortic arch is an actual arch, and humans' have three branches. In cats, the arch is much straighter.

What is the difference between an anatomic end artery and a functional end artery?

anatomic end arteries are vessels whose terminal branches donot anastomose with branches of arteries supplying adjacent areas . Functional end arteries are vessels whose terminal branches do anastomose with those of adjacent arteries , but the caliber of anastomoses is insufficient to keep the tissue alive should one of the arteries become occluded .

What artery carries blood to the arms from the aortic arch?

The subclavian arteries carry blood to the arms. The branching from the aorta on the right side of the body is as follows : Aorta- brachiocephalic- subclavian- axillary (located in your upper arm). From those, you have lots of branches. In the left side, the aortic branching is slightly different. Aorta-left subclavian (directly)-axillary The aorta has a third branch on the arch to the left common carotid, which is the reason that the left side doesn't have the brachiocephalic branch that the right side does. The brachiocephalic branch is just the right subclavian and common carotid running together before a branching point. Hope this helps!

How many coronary arteries in the body?

There are too many to count. There are also variations from person to person. The biggest arteries branch into smaller arteries and those branch into smaller and smaller arteries down to the arterioles, which are very small and there are many of them. Some people say there are millions of arteries in the human body. One source says there are so many arteries in the body that if you laid them end to end, they would be about 60,000 miles long.
