Auxins move from their source into the rest of the plant, where they stimulate cell elongation. A higher concentration of auxins accumulate in the shaded part of a stem and causes the plant to move towards the light.

The auxin hormone in plants helps it to bend towards the light. If a plant has grown to be facing away from the sun (or light source) the auxin will bend the stem so that the plant can carry out the photosynthesis proccess.

When a plant is exposed to light the auxins will diffuse (move) from the lighter side to the shaded side and the more auxins will cause the plant to bend towards light for the plant to grow

How do plant hormones control the growth of roots and shoots?

Auxin controls the growth of the plant. Auxin in the roots of the plant inhibits growth whereas in the stems in the stems it encourages growth.

What are some examples of phototropism?

IN PLANTS plant stems grow towards light (Auxins are plant growth hormones. They work by making cells grow longer, and divide more.) The Auxin collects on the dark side of the shoot; therefore, more growth will occur on this side of the plant. Therefore, the shoot will gradually lean towards the sun , important for photosynthesis. They need light for photosynthesis

What is the plant hormone that causes plant leaves and stems to exhibit positive phototropisms called?

auxin

Gibberellins are hormones that are used to enlarge the stems of fruits and vegetables which hormone's growth does it promote?

Auxin

Over time the stems of the plant curve toward the light coming in the window this process is called?

phototropism

What two plant hormones that regulate plant growth and development?

Auxin controls the growth of the plant. Auxin in the roots of the plant inhibits growth whereas in the stems in the stems it encourages growth.

A plant sits on a window sill overtime the stems of the plant curve toward the light coming in the window the process is called?

phototropism.

What causes the bending of stems and roots in tropisms?

They are pulled to the light by a type of force. They need the light so they can grow and function properly. They also need the light for a heat source and a way to start the photosynthesis cycle. Make sure to look closely at a plant then look at were the light is pointed maybe that would give you a hint to why it Is bent a certain way.

Why does thigmotropism happen?

Some plants grow and move in reaction to touch. Some stems grow toward touch to wrap around an object for support. Touched cells release auxin and send it to untouched cells which grow more quickly causing the plant to grow in the direction of the touch.

A plant sits on a window sill over time the stems of the plant curve toward the light coming in the window this process is called?

This is due to tropic movement(tropism) in plants in which the fixed part of a plant(such as stem) moves in response to a stimulus. If the stimulus is light(as you have asked) then it is termed as Phototropism. And further more stem shows positive phototropism.

How does a plant grow towards the light?

Green plants respond to the stimulus of light. Most stems and leaves grow towards light. HINt: If you have never noticed a plant that has sat in a sunny window for to long always bends towards the light.
