The reason why animals like colors: its the same reason why humans are attracted to cute guys/girls. It appeals to us, I guess. Animals have those same appeals so yeah.

The reason why certain animals like certaincolors: like humans, we all have different tastes. some guys think skinny jeans on girls are hot, others like shorts. Some girls think guys look hot in ties, others, not so much. Animals are the same way. They all have different tastes and appeals.

It helps it blend in with their background, so they won't be spotted by predators or prey easily. And humans for that matter, too.

Examples

The Arctic fox's winter coat is white (sometimes with hints of blue) to help it blend in with the snow, and its spring coat is brown to help it blend in with the vegetation.

The tiger's stripes help it to blend in with the colourful background of the jungle.

And some animals, including chameleons, can change their colour to the colour of the background!

Colors protect animals because to colors of an animal give it the ability to camoflauge in it's surroundings to protect it from the animals that might want to hunt it.

They can help camoflage animals, or they can indicate an animal to be poisonous to would-be predators (or, sometimes, give a false impression of the animal being poisonous).
